About Changes in Altitude Cabin

Changes in Altitude is ora private NC mountain cabin close to Boone and Blowing Rock with sunset mountain views located in the Leatherwood Mountains community in Ferguson, NC. In the winter of 2023, we purchased this cabin (formerly known as Catbird Seat) as a place to continue making memories, and we invite you to make your own.

After vacationing for years in Sylva, Asheville, Boone, Blowing Rock, Valle Crucis, and seemingly everywhere in between, we kept returning to Leatherwood Mountains. The reason is simple: it is close to Boone and Blowing Rock, is free from traffic, and the Leatherwood Mountains community itself offers amenities not found with most other rentals — and yet has all the mountain privacy and stunning views you could ask for, making it the perfect getaway location.

Since purchasing our happy place, we’ve made countless upgrades to make this home as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, combining modern-day amenities like central air, high-sped WiFi, and a hot tub with all of the rustic charm the North Carolina mountains have to offer.
