About Changes in Altitude Cabin

Changes in Altitude is a private NC mountain cabin only a short drive from Boone and Blowing Rock, featuring sunset mountain views and a hot tub, and is located in the Leatherwood Mountains community in Ferguson, NC. In the winter of 2023, we purchased this cabin (formerly known as Catbird Seat) as a place to continue making family memories, and we invite you to make your own.

Where we vacationed before: Sylva, Asheville, Boone, Blowing Rock, Valle Crucis, and seemingly everywhere in between — but we kept returning to Leatherwood Mountains.

Why we purchased Changes in Altitude. While we loved several of the homes we stayed in, we knew our trips could be even better, from the cleanliness of the cabin to everyday modern comforts. Since purchasing our happy place, we’ve made numerous upgrades to make this home as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, combining modern-day amenities like central air, high-speed internet, and a hot tub with all of the rustic charm and sunset views the North Carolina mountains have to offer.

Why stay at Leatherwood Mountains? It’s close to Boone, Blowing Rock, and Tweetsie Railroad (for the families), it’s free from traffic, and the community itself offers amenities not found at most other rentals, complete with all the privacy and stunning views you could ask for, making it the perfect getaway location.
